Longtime resident of the Shoals, singer/songwriter Derrick Coffman’s debut album “Before the Highway Came Through” harkens back to a time before cell phones and internet ruled the airwaves. Spending the better part of the last three years on the road, Derrick continued to hone his songwriting skills by navigating the constant storm of a life lived out of a suitcase. Backed by a fairytale cast of Grammy winners and Muscle Shoals legends this record was cut using the traditional “Muscle Shoals Sound” blueprint. James LeBlanc’s infectious guitar melodies blended perfectly with the smooth keys provided by Fame Gang alum, Clayton Ivey. The foundation couldn’t have been more solid with original Swamper and Muscle Shoals Sound co-founder, David Hood on bass. Justin Holder lays a steady groove on the drums you can set your watch to. This legendary ensemble is rounded out by longtime Bonnie Raitt guitarist Will McFarlane. Recorded and engineered by Grammy award winner Jimmy Nutt at The Nutt House Recording Studio in Sheffield, AL.
